building batter frames

Postby Darkstone » Wed Mar 21, 2018 11:13 am

Good morning from Deerfield, Massachusetts.

I am taking my level II certification test this May in Dummerston, Vermont with The Stone Trust. Part of the test is to prepare batter frames for walling. Can anyone refer me to DSWA leaflets discussing the proper way to construct batter frames? I've built them in the past, I just want to make sure I'm building them to DSWA standards for my test.

Thank you.

Hello Darkstone,

Have you contacted the people in Vermont and asked them for the dimensions of the test wall?

You need to know the base width, the height and width of the sub-cope level and the finished height. Then make up two identical frames to this specification and make sure you are able to fix them securely into the ground at the test site.
