WALLING OR BAILING

Postby Shirley M Addy » Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:05 pm

With reference to the constant downpours - but don't laugh at me! - does any waller use canvas shelters or suchlike to keep dry when walling? I know not everyone likes to go 'soft' and are happy to have rain running down their backs, but the rain will make the ground squidgy and potentially dangerous. At the wall today, someone suggested we have an open tent like the forensic police have at incident sites (at least on TV).

Shelters/Waterproofs

Postby neilptn » Thu Jul 26, 2007 4:57 pm

I have never used a shelter, although with the current weather I would be more than willing to try one out! With regards to waterproofs can anyone recommend a make or style that will actually keep you dry! Most give in to the weather eventually.

How about wearing the old breathable, waterproof jacket used for walking? - which can be re-waterproofed after being washed - then get a new one for walking. That's the 'demotion' method I use. That way you get a second life out of your old comfy jacket. If you don't go walking, about getting Nikwax to waterproof your current jacket?
